FAQ
What is an eSIM and how does it work?
An eSIM is a virtual chip that does the same job as a physical SIM card, but without taking up space or needing to be inserted. Once you activate your plan, your device connects directly to the local network in the country you're in, and everything keeps working as usual: your calls, your apps, your WhatsApp with the same number as always.
Is my device compatible with Roamic eSIM?
Roamic eSIMs are compatible with most eSIM-enabled devices. Check our compatibility list to confirm your device supports it.
How do I know if my phone is a Chinese model (and therefore not eSIM compatible)?
Some phones made for the Chinese market don't support eSIM. To check: look at your phone's original box, check the model number in your system settings, or look for a physical label on the device itself.
How do I check if my phone is unlocked to use eSIM?
There are three easy ways to confirm your iPhone is unlocked: try another SIM: insert a SIM from a different carrier and check if the device recognizes it; check the factory status: some models come unlocked from the factory; ask your carrier: they can confirm whether your line is still tied to them.
When should I install my eSIM before traveling?
You can install it as soon as you buy it. You have 180 days before your eSIM starts activating automatically, so you can set it up days in advance. We recommend installing your eSIM before traveling so everything is ready when you arrive.
When will I receive my eSIM?
As soon as you complete your purchase, you'll receive an email with everything you need to get it ready instantly, whether by scanning a QR code or following the manual steps.
How do I install my Roamic eSIM on my device?
As soon as you complete your purchase, you'll receive a QR code by email. Open it on your compatible phone, scan it, and your plan will be ready to use. Along with the QR code, we also send you a quick guide in case you'd rather follow the steps at your own pace.
My eSIM QR code isn't working, what should I do?
If you're having trouble scanning your eSIM's QR code, it's usually due to: your device not being compatible, a carrier restriction, a network connection issue, or a setting on your phone.
When and how does my eSIM activate at my destination?
Your eSIM won't start using data until you arrive at your destination; it doesn't use data before that, so you can install and set it up days in advance with no risk at all. The best time to activate it is right after landing: turn on your travel line, set it as your main data line, and turn on data roaming. As soon as your phone connects to a local network, your plan will activate automatically.
Can I keep my current phone number with a Roamic eSIM?
Yes, using a Roamic eSIM doesn't affect your regular phone number. Your eSIM works alongside your main SIM. Keep in mind that Roamic eSIMs are data-only and don't include their own phone number: they're designed specifically to keep you connected during your trip.
Which countries are covered by Roamic eSIM?
Roamic eSIM offers coverage in more than 190 countries worldwide. Our extensive network partnerships ensure fast, reliable internet connections wherever you travel. Visit our coverage page to see the detailed list of available countries.
Do eSIMs work at the same speed as a regular SIM?
Yes: your eSIM works with the same technology as any local line, so you'll move seamlessly between 4G, LTE, and 5G. If you notice slower speeds in remote areas or areas with weak signal, that's due to local coverage, not your eSIM.
How do I share data from my eSIM (hotspot)?
Very simple: turn on the hotspot/tethering option on your phone and connect your other devices through it to browse using your eSIM's data.
Where can I check my eSIM's data usage?
You can check it anytime from your MyRoamic dashboard.
Why does my eSIM show an IP address from another country?
Don't worry if your phone shows an IP address from a different country while using Roamic: this is common, both with international roaming and VPN connections. It happens because some of our network partners assign IP addresses from their own servers, which isn't directly linked to your actual location at that moment.
How do I top up my eSIM?
Topping up your eSIM is very simple. Just log in to our MyRoamic app, select the eSIM you want to top up, and tap the "Top Up" button. Within seconds, your plan will be updated and ready to keep using.
Why don't I see the button to top up my eSIM?
The top-up button is only available if your eSIM is active (not depleted or expired). If your data plan has already run out or gone past its validity date, the system won't allow a top-up on that same eSIM. Don't worry: you can buy a new plan from our website and contact our support team to have a manual top-up applied to your new eSIM.
Can I switch to a different eSIM plan?
For now, if you want to switch plans, you'll first need to cancel your current one and choose a new one. But don't worry: just contact us and we'll handle your refund, no hassle.
My eSIM isn't working, what can I do?
If your eSIM isn't working, check these points: make sure your eSIM hasn't expired; confirm that you've actually arrived at your destination; verify that the eSIM is set up for the correct destination; check that data roaming is turned on in your eSIM settings.
What is MyRoamic and what is it used for?

I entered my personal details incorrectly when buying my eSIM, what do I do?
